Four Point Starter For DC Motor
✦As shown in the 3-point starter the N.V.C. coil, shunt field coil and field regulator resistance are in series and therefore carry the same current.
✦ for speed controlling the field regulator resistance is introduced in the circuit more and more than current in the N.V.C. coil becomes lesser and lesser, it may happen that due to the less current in the N.V.C coil it is unable to hold the arm in the attracted position and unnecessarily the arm will be released even if there is no overloading.
✦This is avoided in a 4-point starter. In this starter the N.V.C. coil and the shunt field coil are connected to the supply separately. This avoids unnecessary tripping of the starter.
